M3:D29 Process

![]() Today I spent another 20 minutes on steady state cardio. That's my cardio focus right now. I wanted to share some thoughts about process vs. goals. We are always told how important it is to set goals and then achieve them. I've been guilty of it myself. At this point, after some discussions with others and some journaling and thinking on my own, I have come to a slightly different conclusion overall. I believe it is extremely important to have goals. However, I don't believe it is our job to chase the goals. Instead, I think we need to consider how we approach the entire process. What the heck do I mean, right? Well, the goal is your desired end result. It needs to be clearly identified by you before you start. You then need to determine how you must prepare yourself to reach this desired result. What thinking must change? What approaches must change? Next you need to determine how to bring the end result to yourself. This is alot like the powerful reason why in that it is the very thing that is going to bring the end result you desire to you. What actions must you take to bring the end result to you? Is there something specific you need to do for that to happen? The next thing you focus on is avoiding undoing what you just did. If you workout in the morning, avoid undoing that hard work by eating bad things—always eat healthy. As you do all these things (the process) the end result will draw nearer and nearer to you. Think about it because I think you'll agree that it makes sense. You have to want it or it won't draw nearer to you.

![]() Today I did a nice jog for 20 minutes. It is just enough to keep my heart rate in a good range (129-152). I contnue to do steady state cardio through the bulk phase of M3. It worked quite well last week, but let's see how this week pans out.

Loved your blog today, as usual. One thing really stuck out for me, and want to tatoo it onto my brain forever...it´s that *Do it now, take advantage, as you might not have another chance in the future (my words)* You are so right. Now is the moment. Waiting only prolongs the misery, getting nowhere but in circles. Thanx for that today! Also, about the question of the day...don´t know if I could do what you are doing, or WERE doing with only shakes for food. I think I could do it, but don´t know if I would want to. Related to the above, also life is to be lived...My idea right now is to hit it hard, stop messing around like before, get it done, then do what you want. I intend to have my transformation by the end of summer! So there.

Lynda, thanks for the wonderful comment. It is great to see how pumped up you are right now. I hope it lasts
As for the BQOTD, I am not referring to all protein shakes. Yes, what I am doing now is a result of what I learned during that period, but what I am doing now involves eating real food at decent macro levels, but what I am eating is boosting the anabolism in my body. I am setting my body up for optimal muscle building/growth through what I am eating.

Michael.. I so much envy you because you already found the ratios and have the discipline and everything in the nutrtion area.. I think that there's where I should put my effort, but it's so difficult for me.. that I end eating much more somedays and so little other days... anyway.. great job!!

Celina, here is where I vary from alot of people. Have you thought about the fact that basing your nutrition day by day isn't such a good idea? You state that you are "eating much more somedays and so little other days" so why not just base your nutritional plan off an entire week? Example: Let's say you are supposed to take in 1500 calories a day. Instead of worrying about it on a daily basis, consider it to be 10,500 calories a week (7 x 1500). You could then have the following week and it would still be perfect:
Sun 2000
Mon 1000
Tues 1500
Wed 1250
Thur 1750
Fri 1100
Sat 1900
Tot 10,500
As you see, in the above example you would have hit your daily calories exactly once. You would have gone under 3 times and over 3 times, but in the end, it balances to what you need. You could also do the same thing for the macronutrient ratios. Just base them off an entire week. This gives you some wiggle room each day. You need a plan that is forgiving enough that you can pull it off because a large part of your progress is going to be nutrition (hence my major focus on that right now). Let me know if you'd like some help with this.

Love your entry. Not having a goal is like going on holiday without a destination. Then daily action steps take you there. You may or may not chieve that goal but at least you've had a plan and for sure you'll get close.
