![]() What's in a mood anyway? Upbeat, down, happy, sad, they are all just driven by emotions. Are emotions even real? I wonder about that alot. Have you ever seen sadness itself? I'm sure you've seen the result of sadness but never have you actually seen sadness. Emotions are invisible. This is what leads me to my commentary for today. Life is one of those things that you just need to shut up and do it. Just like your workout plan and your diet plan—you have to just shut up and do it. You can talk all day long about what your going to do, but you have to actually execute the plan before anything will happen. Life and planning go hand in hand. You get nowhere just talking about it. Both issues require execution. I've noticed over the past 8 months that the execution is really the entire story. We all tend to think that our system isn't working when we don't get the results we are seeking. Perhaps, if we were honestly reviewing the situation, we'd realize that we were not working the plan at all? Perhaps we'd realize that we've let the plan slip? As I said earlier, stop blaming everything else. Stop trying to find an excuse. Stop looking for a scapegoat. The intensity of the workout was increased by the fact that I was really focused today for some reason. I think you hit the nail on the head with being honest. An "honest" review of what you've been doing and why the results aren't as expected is needed at times.

Thanks, Mike. Focus and redirection are the things most people misunderstand. Focus will bring results, but redirection will only bring results if it was needed in the first place. Redirection without any real reason just delays results in the end.

I've never seen God, gravity, actual electricity, or actual stars. I've only seen the results of those things. Are they real? They are as real as anything else. I get there is a difference between feelings and emotions, however, the very idea that we question or deny them in many ways is evidence that they exist. I know feelings are as real as any piece of matter that I see without question. I've never seen PAIN, (only the result) but if I kicked somebody in the butt, he knows in that instant that pain is real.

Christy, I think you are focused on the wrong aspect of the post. You are focused on the part where I ask if emotions are real or do we control the outcome. Answer this: can you be in a bad mood and make yourself into a good one? How about the other way around, you're in a good mood and you put yourself into a bad one? Can you make yourself sad if you're happy? The point is that the emotions themselves exist, but they are not real. They are controlled by our actions. I've done all the things I mention above. I've turned a bad mood into a good one and a good one into a bad one. I've made myself happy when I've been sad and sad when I've been happy. To me it is simply a state of mind in much the same way that excuses are mostly a state of mind. Yes, people have physical limitations that cause them to be unable to perform certain actions, but most excuses are just in the head. That's why I said people should just shut up and execute.

EXACTLY!!!!! We create emotions based on input/stimuli that we receive from our environment and we have the power to uncreate or recreate them.

Lilla, that's pretty much what I was saying and then applying it to goals. Life doesn't just happen, we create our own life. This is why the comment "life is what you make it" really is true. You make your life into what you want.
