M4:D75 (D375) Retired from the Shreddersphere?
| ||
I was recently asked if I had retired from the Shredderspehere. I gave my response rather quickly, but as the day went on, I had to really think about that question. Have I retired from the Shreddersphere? Being the outspoken individual that I am, I thought I'd approach the issue today. I have some honest concerns about helping out people on the Shreddersphere right now. Quite honestly, the number of people in the Shreddersphere has grown tremendously. I used to run through the entire list in about 30 minutes each day, but to do the same thing now would require about 90 minutes of my time every single day. I just do not have that time to spare. At the same time, I honestly believe it is important for us to support each other. The question becomes how can we do it? I have been very disappointed that there are just a few people who consistently comment posts on various blogs. With a group the size of the Shreddersphere we should see blogs full of comments, but that just isn't happening. Do people just not understand the power of the support they are giving? Is it not understood that for there to be accountability there must be people consistently holding us accountable? How can we be held accountable if nobody is commenting our blogs? What sort of positive pressure is there if we are not commenting each other's blogs? What can be done to fix this situation? That's the question I have today. You will see it under the question of the day. I apologize in advance if this post offends anyone. It is not my intention to offend, but to fix a problem that I see getting bigger and bigger. We (the Shreddersphere) need a better system for holding each other accountable. I have my own ideas, but for now they will remain my own. I will offer them up to the Shredder Council members privately, but for now they must remain private until we agree on a way to fix this problem that I see. Do you not see this problem as well? Am I missing something here? Am I completely wrong on my take? Where is the support? Where are the comments? Let's get things back in line!

Today was an interval cardio session for 30 minutes.
Accountability starts with yourself and ends with others.
How can we help the Shreddersphere become a place where every single member is held accountable on a daily basis? Comment this post with your answer.
Until tomorrow...GET BACK TO LIFTING! |

I can relate to what you are saying, Michael! I read most of the shreddersphere blogs via a blog reader and generally don't comment unless I feel the urge to depending on the post. As the commenting does take a lot of time...and is so hard when our time is so limited as it is. I know my husband hates it when I spend so much time reading blogs and commenting. takes away from family responsibilities or just staying up way past my bedtime. I even considered laying off the blogging for awhile..but then the "new" group shred 2.0 that I just couldn't pass up. eventhough I still not in it fully like I was in the first one last year. I for one, would love to hear your ideas as to how to improve this and become more of a community of sharing. I kind of think Adam is going to be getting to this with the release of his RTP Transformation System.

I agree it can be very time consuming getting around to the blogs, especially when some people put 5 days up at once
Jokes aside, I think to get things going again we need more group challenges. These challenges being coordinated and results posted in a central location would certainly make it easier. I think there should be several of these running at any one particular time.

You are so right that the blogs are many now. I find that I go to the ones I like the best, and don´t even check out the new ones (which are great too). Not enough time or energy. I see many dropping out, both from council and blogging. Guess our lives are too busy at times. Don´t have an answer. Things did get so much better with this 2.0 shred though....

Hi Michael, I agree. As a newer Shredder, there wasn't a time for me when there were too few blogs to read

I guess I'm the odd man out here because I feel the love and support. I have no expectations except to myself so when others comment, it is icing!
I don't rely on Adam or anyone to make me happy or feel supported. Of course I LOVE the community we've created around the globe but we all have lives and responsibilities. I understand when I don't get comments. I write for myself mainly. It's my journal. My outlet. If others read it and enjoy, then I'm thrilled!
I've connected with some people more than others and those are the ones that I tend to "converse" with more. I don't believe in forcing conversation just for the sake of leaving a comment. Then it just becomes 'small talk' and a waste of time.
I think Adam's idea of an online community is a good one. That way the conversations will be relevant and threaded in one place vs. across 30+ blogs. I think we will all be able to provide and receive relevant support in this forum.
Thank for bringing up the topic Michael. It's good to get others opinions and ideas.
And by the way, you look great in your photo today - chest looks BIG! ;D
